You did it! Funds Raised and Barnaby will be coming home - THANK YOU
What can I say except a huge thank you to each and every one of you!
Thanks to everybody coming together to support us on this, Barnaby target has been reached so he will be returned to us in August. The prize draw has been left to run as tickets have been purchased, it will end on the 2nd of June and the fundraiser will be closed. Any extra after quarantine and expenses will go to a doggie charity.
I always said that when Barnaby's fight was over I would be leaving social media as it has never been part of my life and this I hope will still come to be. However, in the time between now and Barnaby being released, there is so much I want to do.
We are currently talking with organisations and individuals in the UK, Serbia and Romania. This issue is so complex that it requires new legislation to effect change and that is a long and slow process. In regards to this, we will be campaigning and petitioning for Barnaby's Law. The law would mean a maximum of 5 dogs could be commercially exported in one vehicle at anytime, alternatively, all dogs except those travelling with owners would require rabies titer results before entry to the UK.
Neither options will prevent all illegal importations but by making it less profitable, it should cut out those in the "rescue business" for financial gain and not for the love of the dogs.
The Barnaby's Law website will go live soon and be separate to this.
This blog will continue until all the evidence has been released, the aim of it is to raise awareness and put people off becoming involved in the illegal importing of dogs.
Further, since making the issue public, so many people have came forward with evidence or stories of their own. Sadly, these days you have to shout and shout loud to be heard but it worked and if the only people offended by this approach are those shown to be involved, I can live with that.
On a happier note, those supporting us and understanding why we are doing what we are, thank you so much as we appreciate every £1 donated, every kind email, chat, whatsapp and tweet. To those who picked me up after the libel, threats, abuse and meltdowns lol, love you all as I wouldn't be here without you xx
